This page explains how to delete your account in the newsapp24 news app or the newsapp24 Reporter app, both published by newsapp24, and what happens to your data.
In the news app
- Open the app and go to Profile, then Settings.
- Under Account, tap Delete account.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted straight away and the app starts fresh.
In the Reporter app
- Open Settings and tap Delete account. If your verification has not been approved yet, tap the ⋮ menu on the verification screen instead.
- Confirm. Your account is deleted straight away and the app starts fresh.
If a payout to you is still being processed, the app asks you to wait until it has been paid, so that the money is not lost.
No longer have the app?
Your account is tied to the phone it was created on, so deleting it from the app is the surest way. If you no longer have the app, email support@newsapp24.com with the subject “Delete my newsapp24 account”. Write from the email address you added to your profile, or include the mobile number you added, so we can find your account. We delete it within 30 days and confirm by reply. If you never added contact details, uninstalling the app leaves an account that nobody can open; you can still write to us and we will help where we can identify it.
What is deleted
- Your device key, so no phone can open the account again
- Your name, mobile number, email address, district and other places
- Your language, topic and notification choices, and your push token
- Reading history, saved and hidden stories, and your notifications
- The text and stickers of your comments
- Birthday wishes you sent, including their photos
- For reporters: your Aadhaar number, card photos and selfie, your UPI or bank details and PAN, your unpublished stories, and photos and videos that were not used in a published story
What is kept
- Published stories stay on newsapp24 as part of the news record, credited to “Reporter” instead of your name.
- Payout and earnings records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires (generally up to eight years), then deleted.
- Totals that no longer identify you, such as a story’s view, like and poll counts.
