On 8 October 2026, Assam Rifles and Customs seized 501 kg of ganja worth about ₹2.50 crore in Khowai district, Tripura, after pursuing a suspected vehicle from West Sonatala. The smugglers abandoned the drugs near Baikhuntapur village, 18 km from Hezamara block, and fled. The seized ganja is now with Customs for investigation.
